Today we have an unusual review. The material met two diverse mice from Razer. The situation was funny. On the one hand, on sale there has long been an updated version of Mamba, the test of which has been postponed for a long time. On the other hand, Naga called HEX appeared. I didn’t want to pull anymore, so we brought this pair in one article. The dish turned out to be interesting – you will like both fans of shooters and adherents of MMORPG C RTS.
Razer Mamba 2012
To release remakes now fashionable. In cinemas, films with old heroes and new special effects are spinning. Steam appears more and more games with cute old -school gamers names. Now the manufacturers of devices decided to play nostalgia. Nvidia brushed the dust from the Titanium brand and attributed it to the GTX 500 series, and Razer revived from the ashes Imperator ("Gambling" No. 12/11, "Crowned Person"). “Why do they do it?" – you ask. With films and games, everything is simple – making money on a famous brand. With iron is a little more complicated. Consider the example of Razer.
Imperator and Mamba were one of the best in their class. The first proposed an innovative approach to ergonomics, allowing you to shift the side buttons. The second was distinguished by verified forms, a powerful sensor and … in fact was the only wireless game mouse. However, it is impossible to rest on laurels in the world of computers for a long time. Technologies are not standing still, and what seemed to be a revelation yesterday, today is the last century. And, no matter how sad, but buying a rodent from 2009 in 2012, even in the absence of alternatives. Against this background, the revival of legends is a great idea. We get a modern filling in the already established design. This happened to Imperator, so it became with Mamba.
Hello, old friend
For three years, Mamba has not changed. Before us everything is the same huge (12.8 cm in length!) a piece of plastic, which was able to give an incredibly comfortable shape. The tall left side with a deepening, ready to take a thumb, and the low right side, fitting the nameless and little finger. The hand of medium or large sizes lies perfectly, but what is it – the brush is almost completely placed on the back, so only the wrist remains in the calm mode on the table.
The body material is pleasant, albeit prapper, soft. A set of buttons – two main ones, a couple under the thumb and the same number of the left “click”. All of them are configured through a complete software – the simplest combinations like “Ctrl+” or a change in the sensor resolution are prescribed in it and full -fledged macros with a hundred actions and the delays verified to milliseconds are written. Immediately, by the way, the backlight (16 million colors) is adjusted with a binding to profiles.
What's new?
Innovations in Mamba 2012 – the necessary minimum. Firstly, the sensor has changed. Now he, like in Imperator 2012, 4G Dual Sensor. The bottom line is that two sensors are watching the movements at once – laser and optical. On paper, the difference with the past generation is not great: 6400 versus 5600 dpi. In practice, digital pupils complement each other and can not only equally effectively remove data on different surfaces, compensating for the errors of the neighbor, but also determine the distance from the table on which the tracking system is turned off.
Secondly, Mamba 2012 received a more capacious battery. Instead of fourteen, she runs in sixteen hours in a row. At the same time, it takes only four hours for full charge. However, the battery in Mamba is not the main thing. The first version of the mouse was famous not so much by the opportunity to function without wires (many were able to) as the ability to communicate with a computer through a cable. If the “factory” ends, then you can quickly disconnect the wire from charging, stick it into a rodent and continue the game. Strange, but this still knows how to do units.
In an open field
In practice, Mamba 2012 showed itself exactly the same as three years ago. The mouse is not only convenient, but also multifunctional. A competent design does not allow you to put on it a stamp "for action" or "for mmorpg". Thanks to a sensitive sensor, additional buttons and flexible settings, she copes with any genre. A heavy wide case helps to carefully kiss the enemy through the optics of the rifle. The ability to instantly increase resolution unleashes hands in narrow corridors of FPS and network strategies. Well, long macros is the perfect help in mmorpg.
No mechanic does not fail. The keys are designed for the average power of pressing, the wheel is clearly fixed to the position and at the same time practically does not make noise. Well, the Teflon legs slide equally well both on the villous rug and on the smooth table.
Razer Naga Hex
If Mamba received an update for the first time in three years, then the NAGA that has been released with her is already sold in four versions: original, Molten Edition, Epic, 2012. And now a variety of hex has also appeared.
What's good in NAGA to produce so many options? The first and most importantly is a dozen buttons under the thumb, coupled with competent software that allows you to write the most difficult macros without knowledge of the programming language. The second is official addons for popular MMORPG, including World of Warcraft. Third is a mouse from Razer, which means perfectly verified design and versatility. NAGA is great for jokes, and for strategies, and for simple office routine.
Why then there were so many subspecies when everything is so wonderful? Banal work on errors. Molten Edition – improved buttons mechanics. EPIC – functioning without wires, moving the “Forward/Back” keys under the wheel and interchangeable side panels adding a narrow rodent to the index finger and little finger. 2012 – the same EPIC, but wired, made of ordinary plastic instead of software and at a lower price. HEX – a new look at additional buttons.
Fresh look
Like it or not, but to master four rows of buttons and learn to jump between them with the help of a thumb – that is still science. To be honest, only the first and last lines were used in NAGA: it was on them that the pillow and knuckles of the finger lay down. The remaining are rarely used character's abilities, to which it was necessary to reach and not break the limb. Actually, they decided to get rid of them in HEX.
On the left side now there are only six buttons located around the thumb stand. They cost so that you can quickly click on any of them with a fingernail. As in NAGA, the default keys duplicate the digital row of the keyboard or numpad. Between the modes you switch the lever on the bottom. If the numbers are not needed, then in the special buttons, the values change to any action or pre -written macro.
Otherwise, in front of us NAGA is three years ago. Narrow plastic case, high back, concave clicks, a wheel with a clear stroke and a plastic stand for the ring finger. In a large hand, the rodent is lost, but in the middle or small it feels great and does not strain even after many hours of battles. The main grip is palm, holding your fingers is inconvenient, a sharp bevel on the right side interferes.
Interestingly, HEX is made of glossy plastic, and not a software, as a ancestor. On the one hand, it's good – it is easier to clean such a material. On the other hand, the rubberized body was better felt in the hand. As for the technical filling, the 3.5G Sensor laser is installed with a maximum resolution of 5600 dpi – enough for any genres.
Cloud 2.0
Naga Hex software inherited from relatives. Of course, the design has changed a bit, some functions are more clearly presented, but the general meaning remained the same. According to Razer Synapse 2.0 allows you to write macros, reassign the keys, turn on/off the backlight, control the sensitivity of the sensor. Cloud support was a serious innovation. All profiles are loaded to the Razer server and are available from anywhere in the world. Moreover, the settings are not tied to a specific sample. Having come to visit a friend who has Hex, you can enter your username and gain access to your own written macros.
Naga hex in games
We will say right away that the first versions of NAGA are used in our office everywhere, so you can not do without comparison. It feels like HEX is no worse than predecessors. It glides perfectly along the carpet, confidently reads movements and does not bother his hand at all. You get used to the layout for a long time – it is hard to get rid of the practice "A finger on all buttons at once". However, in a week of use, you already calmly relate to the fact that the thumb is constantly in a bent position and is ready to describe the arc in search of the key.
Note that in terms of capabilities he is not inferior to 12-button brothers. You can teach it any tricks, up to automatically scrolling at the character’s attacking rotation – it all depends on your imagination. But in terms of functionality, HEX loses. In fact, we removed the keys on which such things as a challenge of a mount, a change of shape/racks, a magical bubble-lodger hung in the same wow.
But where HEX was not an example better-Moba and Action-RPG. In Diablo 3 or League https://slots-shine-casino.co.uk/ of Legends with their limited action bars, a small number of easily accessible buttons are a fairy tale. The finger flies like crazy, helping the left hand in time to use the right abilities. We will not say that on a regular NAGA it is more complicated, just with HEX everything is faster. A similar situation with shooters: switching between the sensor permits or the choice of weapons are a little more clearly.
Despite the fact that both of the considered mice are a reissue and rethinking of old developments, they are perceived with a bang. The revived Mamba is one of the best manipulators for shooters. A heavy and tenacious case allows you to accurately bring the sight and shoot enemies. Well, HEX, albeit copying classic NAGAs, is felt much more lively and rapidly than its predecessors-the perfect choice for Moba or Action-RPG.
